THE MILKMAN'S DAUGHTER

There is good news afoot for fans of Smoking Lily, the tiny retail boutique on Johnson Street.  The owners have added an additional location "The Milkman's Daughter" named after the owner's father who was indeed a milkman.   The store is located in a lovely heritage building and, at 1200 square feet; it is their largest retail location to date.

The Milkman's Daughter offers much more than the unique and beautiful silkscreen creations you'll find at Smoking Lily.  They have added furniture to their repertoire as well as playful art pieces, cushions and sumptuous duvet covers.  You'll also find handmade cards, jewelry, feminine dresses and exquisite design and cookery books.  This is the ideal place to find those items you may not need but absolutely cannot bear to live without.

If you are in Chinatown it is well worth your while to take the tiny detour to The Milkman’s Daughter.  You are guaranteed to find a bevy of items to inspire and delight!

DOCTOR VIGARI

On my last trip to Vancouver I found a little piece of heaven on Commercial Drive in Doctor Vigari. Within this friendly gallery you'll find a treasure trove of unique furniture, ceramics, and affordable and original works of art by BC and Canadian artists.

I coveted the beautiful painted tiles by June Hunter and the playful photographic art by Emily Cooper.   Doctor Vigari also carries an array of ceramics, sculptures, paintings and some of the prettiest jewelry I have ever laid eyes on.

If you have always wanted to own original art but don't think you can afford it I strongly suggest a visit to this space.  Many pieces are under $100.00 and the selection is playful and eclectic.

Dr. Vigari has a policy where you can return your art after one week with full refund providing it is maintained in original condition.  They also offer custom in store framing.

The next time you are in Vancouver having your cappuccino on the Drive you may want to amble down to Doctor Vigari.  You'll be inspired by the beautiful and fun pieces on display.  You may not be able to resist taking something home with you.  I did, and boy I am glad!
